Even for a place like Silver Dollar City, the 1880's theme park known for its world class rides, shows, entertainment and festivals, "KidsFest," running from June 11 through July 24, stands out as a unique fun filled experience. America's biggest KidsFest is held during the peak time of the Branson season when families visit Branson and integrates the fun and excitement of the park's 30 rides and attractions with additional acts, shows and entertainment into a spectacular summer vacation experience for families.
KidsFest is noted for the variety and excitement of its entertainment and the 2011 edition will be no exception. New to the festival this year will be the legendary "Flying Wallendas," winners of the prestigious international "Silver Clown Award" and Guinness World Record High Wire-Walkers. Back by popular demand will be Chris Perondi and his stunt dogs performing amazing feats of "canine athleticism and agility." Throughout KidsFest some of the kids favorite cartoon characters will be available to meet and greet them. Subject to change, the schedule includes, "Dora & Diego," June 9-11; "Ben 10," June 16-18; "Chowder," June 23-25; "Scooby Doo & Shaggy," July 1-4; "Fred Flintstone, Barney & Dino," July 7-9; "Mac & Bloo," July 14-16; "SpongeBob & Patrick," July 21-23; "Tom & Jerry," July 28-30 and "Backyardigans," August 4-6.
Although Silver Dollar City's rides are an exciting part of every day at Silver Dollar City they just naturally fit into KidsFest. The parks rides truly have something for everyone in the family from the exhilarating adventure of "Wildfire," a world class multi-looping roller coaster that reaches speeds up to 66 miles per hour to the more sedate and relaxing "Grand Exposition" where all the members of the family, from the youngest to the oldest, can share a fun filled ride together and dozens more. Brand new this year is the new $1 million "Half Dollar Holler" area designed for the fun and delight of kids through age 7.
What would the world largest KidsFest be without a variety of the foods that kids love to eat? From pizza to salad bars to "Hot Diggety Dogs," "Dippy Dogs" or "Chicken Crunchers," served with the choice of Fruit Cup or Crinkle Fries and Juice Box or 12 ounce soda; a choice of five tasty flavors of Snow cones and specialty drinks including strawberry smoothes and fresh squeezed lemonade, the special KidsFest Menu is a kid pleaser.
